Growing up in San Francisco, I remember the good old days of playing basketball in Asian leagues.
I remember playing in the Chinatown rec center, Japanese league in Japantown, and Chinese Christian Union headed by Peter Lee and Jason Lee.
In our days, we had a few super stars like Jeremy Lee and Dennis Yuen. Jeremy Lin took it to the next level with great fundamentals and playing plenty of ball outside of the Asian league.
I played against players that were semi pro players in Taiwan but that was the highest level. Jeremy Lin’s success will encourage basketball players especially in China to pick up the ball and just shoot.

Will Life After ‘Lin’ Change NBA Recruiting?
In recruiting, we often over look character and in Jeremy Lin’s case he had a few things going for him.
Relentless tenacity. When I saw Jeremy Lin play pro am ball in San Francisco, he never stopped making cuts, analyzing the court, and simply worked hard.
Also. Recruiters needs to also look into a player’s support group. Jeremy Lin appears to have a strong well rooted support group to take him over the humps.
After all, confidence can make or break a person let alone a player on the court.
